I have to throw in Charley Pollard after listening to audios and Ian and Barbara after rewatching some classic stories...Donna might also be pretty high. So many good companions I just can't put in order

Ian, Barbara, Jamie, Zoe, Liz, The Brigadier, Jo, Sarah Jane, Harry, Leela, Romana, Nyssa, Tegan, Ace, Donna, The Ponds, and Clara.

Liz doesn't get nearly enough recognition. I do love pretty much every Pond (Amy, Rory, Brian and River)...Clara I feel i'm going to love. Tegan is also the best

Indeed, but Liz had quite a short time, but still awesome.

Yes, all the Ponds are simply the greatest. I understand there are many who don't like River or Amy. But in the end, they were both good to great characters and both developed well.

Agreed about Clara and Tegan (still not getting over her ending...)
