NOTE: I have had to watermark this image because I am seeing it EVERYWHERE on Myspace and even manipulated a couple of times. When I say no retouching, I MEAN it. If you see this picture anywhere other than here, please tell the person posting it that they're doing so without my permission and to take it down. Thanks!
My first fully-CG-painted work. I started with a rough, scanned sketch and worked over the top of it. I don't think it came out TOO badly, Go me
This is fanart because she's based on .. well, the hair is possibly a bit of a clue. I basically wanted to make a goth variant on the Disney Snow White. Of all the princesses, I think Snow would be the most likely to be an inner goth. At least after she clocks out from her day job whistling while she works and cohabiting with 7 'little people'. Must be that snow-white skin
edit. changed the number of dwarves to the RIGHT number
I always liked Snow White the most of Disney lasses.
She hasn't changed much in this....?
Or is it of those Disney "Princess"-merchandises which ruined the original image of this cute, petite female. I'm not sure. But she truly has always been the little gothic lolita. You've taken her to her roots, maybe? (Err, it's been years since I last saw "Snow White")
There's a lot of details here. I bet they took time. Quite modern. I could think of a pale rose garden where she is standing, instead of the classic cosy woods...
Well, there's CG colouring and then there's Cg *painting*, which is all the rage right now.
The stuff I've done before involves scanning in a clean, inked image and essentially colouring it in. Think a more sophisticated version of colouring in an animation cel.
This one is all painted. Notice you can't see any outlines. It's basically the CG version of a person painting on an easel.
It takes a lot more skill and practice to do CG painting well, but we all gotta start somewhere
Well, Disney's Snow White was always a sweetheart. IMO, she can pull off the charm which would be gaggy if the other princesses tried it.
I just think the story lends itself to her being a goth. Maybe it's the similar feeling to 'Legend'.. you can see her being the bride of the Darkness
I also read Gregory Maguire's 'Mirror Mirror' recently, which gives a retelling of the Snow White tale with a slightly more sinister, sordid edge.
Devious Comments
Nice though. I never liked the Disney Snow White that much, as she was a wuss. More attitude here. =3
