Wow - this pic has infested the Who fandom like bird flu in a chicken coop. Delighted that it's gone down so well!
This is, of course, Doctor Who, so if you've never seen the newer seasons(or ANY Who), then you're really not going to get the joke. Oh, I guess I should provide a guide, for those of you who forget that the Doctor has been going for a very.. VERY long time: from left to right: Susan Foreman (the doctor's 'grand-daughter' Vicki Dodo Chaplet Polly Victoria Waterfield Zoe Harriot Liz Shaw Jo Grant Sarah Jane Smith (a hard act to follow) Leela (Xena ain't got nothin' on her!) Romana Romana(regenerated - yes, she was a Time Lord, too) Nyssa of Traken Tegan Jovanka (biggest whiner and worst Australian accent - AND I'M AUSTRALIAN! So before you all go HA-HA, THAT WAS HER REAL ACCENT, I reckon there was still something off about it. I have to wonder whether the producers told her to over-exaggerate it...) Peri Brown (second-biggest whiner and worst American accent) Mel Bush Ace Dr Grace Holloway (first to play tonsil hockey with the Doc)
This pic's getting spread so wide, it needs its own FAQ.. JUST to clear a few things up
*Hey, Rose kicked arse, shut up! Just for the record, I don't HATE Rose. Nothing wrong with companions who are smart, capable and take no crap. It's that whole Mary-Sue OMGSOULMATE!!11 lusting after the Doctor that I don't care for. And Rose, I'm sorry to say, was well into that territory by the time she left.
OMG WHERE'S BARBARA?? This is about the companions' emotional attachment to the Doctor. As my husband quipped: If Barbara were in this pic, she'd be screaming for IAN, not the Doctor. I don't hate Barbara either, she just irks me a bit. But if she'd gravitated to the Doctor rather than Ian, she'd probably be in the pic, too. As for Katarina and Sara, they were only around for a few stories. Sara didn't even make it through one. As for Grace only being in the movie, well she's Eight's ONLY on-screen companion, so I couldn't leave her out. Sorry fans, just my artistic decisions
What about Martha and Donna? This picture was done prior to Runaway Bride, so subsequent companions will not be included. Sorry, no updates.
Can I get a print of this? I'm afraid not, I'm sorry. This is a low-resolution picture and not suitable for printing/framing. In addition, prints of fanart is copyright violation. It's very flattering how many people have expressed interest in prints of my Doctor Who art, but no dice, sorry.
Can I make icons/web banners from this? Official wallpaper is here, and there is a LJ icon set (offline for now), but I'd rather not see anything else (web banners, layouts etc). Credit is lost far too easily, although Whofans have been very good with crediting the picture when they link it. Disneyfans should learn from you guys
Thanks to this pic, I was contacted by TSV(the NZ Who fanzine) and I'm going to be contributing Who-toons to future issues and possibly cover art. Next stop - DWM!! ^_^
As a comprehensive catalog of the Doctor's assistants, this would have been merely good. The gag at the end makes it great. :D (Suggested by ~cordwainersmith and Featured by `animator)
Ooh slightly confused...I seem to remember the reader books that had the band aids in 'em and it was about a little boy named rick was was a 'doctor' for the day and administered the bandaids to people who go nicks on their fingers and such.
And let's not forget Alison Chaney from "The Scream of the Shalka" and Martha from the third season of the new "Doctor Who" series, plus all the other girls from the radio and webcartoons on the BBC website.

There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
