When I was looking up reference for her, it struck me that she basically looks like a prototype Evil Belle :D

You're absolutely right, you don't see much of Vanessa in fan art, and I've always enjoyed that disguise of Ursula. I like how even though she looks totally different, you can still see hints of Ursula.

This is a fantastic piece!!

how cute, you captured Ariel's facial expression from the movie PERFECTLY. And I definitely prefer Vanessa's looks... I dont know why people are saying Vanessa looks remotely like Belle, just because they're brunettes? wow, such a... resemblance :B if anything, she looks more like Jane or Nancy.

I'm sure you hear(read) this all the time, but more often than not your wee!princesses/disney girls are muy better than the actual animation.
Also: Bullied Ariel is so sweet! (obvious i prefer vanessa :D)
