Just a pencil sketch unabashedly inspired by tracyjb's Lackadaisy portraits

The costume dates from 1660(specifically this portrait by Sir Peter Lely), about 30 years before Charles Perrault published the definitive Sleeping Beauty tale. I could have dressed Aurora in full 1690's fashion, but by then it was all curls on top of the head and fontanges and manteux with buckets of fussy lace and ribbons (which would eventually become the insane powdered wigs and pannier-gowns of the 18thC Versailles court.)

Personally, I think the dishabille style of the 1650's suits Aurora much better

Lovely! I love her mild smile, and the attention to historical detail that you have given, both in the drawing and in your description. I would love to see, just out of curiousity, a version where she IS dressed in fussy 1690s fashion, as you described.

good shading; she look like a young gir here, as she should, because isn't she around fifteen when her finger is pricked, and not 18 as the Disney film has her?
